Professor Haymo Thiel

Professor Haymo Thiel has been the Principal of the AECC since 2012. He previously held the posts of Senior Clinical Tutor, Head of Clinic and Vice-Principal at the college.

In addition to his Doctor of Chiropractic qualification, Haymo completed an MSc through the Department of Orthopaedics, Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and a PhD through the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Portsmouth.

He holds a post-graduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Dundee and has membership and fellowship status with a number of clinical and educational organisations and institutions.

Haymo has published extensively in both clinical and educational research areas and is serving on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals. His research interests are on the subjects of patient safety incident reporting, treatment outcomes related to manual therapies of the cervical spine, and clinical risk management.

Philip Dewhurst

Philip started at the AECC in 2008 with a focus on teaching anatomy.  He is the programme leader for the Access to HE Diploma (Human Health Sciences).

Postgraduate Teaching Faculty

Dr. Hussain has been involved in the education and training of a variety of healthcare practitioners in the safe and competent use of ultrasound for over 15 years. He has designed, piloted and delivered a number of innovative ultrasound courses for GPs, Urologists, A&E Clinicians, nurses and midwives.

Dr. Hussain's current research interests include the use of telemedicine in ultrasound, training and diagnosis of GPs with special interest and the impact of 4-dimensonal ultrasound intervention in the cessation of smoking in pregnancy.


Jenni Bolton


Jenni is Professor in Chiropractic Education. She received her PhD from the University of Southampton and her MA in Education from University College London. Her research interests lie in evidence-based practice, clinical outcomes and education, and she has established over seventy full research papers in the peer-reviewed literature.
